How it works
Online-Coaching in Detail
If you're considering online coaching sessions, this is the place to get detailed information about our services. This page should help you decide which one of us to contact. Or perhaps you'd like to speak to both of us simultaneously, thus expanding the potential for reflection? That's possible, too.
How it works
We start with a brief introductory conversation, during which we'll get to know each other and discuss our consulting services. One important aspect of this conversation is to explore whether your concerns and expectations suit the online consulting process.
Together, we'll decide whether to schedule just one session or a series of them. The length and frequency of these sessions is up to you, and it's okay to change those parameters as we go along.
Typically, we'll meet on Skype, Facetime, Zoom or the platform of your choice. If you don't want to use video communication, or if your region doesn't offer the necessary infrastructure, we'll talk on the phone. It can be useful to be able to exchange and discuss documents or worksheets during a conversation.
Upon request, the coaching process or portions thereof can be conducted via email or text-based chat programs.
When feasible, we are happy to get to know you in person, either before the online sessions start or during an ongoing coaching process.
Online coaching is a good fit...
...if you are looking for support delivered straight to your workplace or
home
...if your company or organization has sent you abroad and you wish to be coached in your native language
...if you are looking for tailor-made coaching sessions for your employees that will support them on short notice and at distant locations
...if you are unable to travel to face-to-face coaching sessions
...if no suitable sessions are offered in your area
Pluses and minuses
Advantages of being counseled online:
- great scheduling flexibility
- typically, more concentration and focus on the topics at hand, as fewer communication channels are used
- availability at short notice, even spontaneously just before a challenging meeting or similar situation
- not bound to a location, which typically means less effort (and money) expended
- ability to sort out topics and counseling methods in advance online, even if the actual sessions are held face-to-face
Limitations or disadvantages:
- Reducing communication to one or two senses (depending on the medium) can result in some non-verbal signals, such as facial expressions or body language, not being received.
- Conducting sessions at your workplace can require you to make special arrangements to find a quiet space; it also means getting less of the required distance to your daily activities and distractions.
- Not all topics are equally suitable for online counseling. We believe that some require closer proximity and physical presence.
- The participation of others in the conversation is limited.
